In bad news for Senegal Cheik Kouyate's side were dumped out of the AFCON last night losing after ET 5-4 on penalties to a determined Cameroon side.
It has been no surprise to Hammers fans that Kouyate has had an excellent tournament - serving as captain for his country in three of their four games and winning MOTM awards for his outstanding performances.
Although there will be some sympathy for Senegal, Manager Aliou Cisse's decision to keep Kouyate on the pitch despite worrying head and wrist injuries will undoubtedly irritate the Hammers medical team. The club have previously been critical of how the Senegalese managed an injury to Diafra Sakho which many feel is at the heart of his longstanding injury woes.
Kouyate won't make Wednesday's Premiership revenge clash with Man City but should make the following game.
In the interim, the Hammers will want to get him back 'home' asap to assess the extent of his injuries.
