With £30million or more likely to arrive in the next week for want-away midfielder Dimitri Payet, it's no surprise that the Hammers are being linked with a host of (apparently) available replacements. One such player is Croatian attacking midfield star Ivan Perisic - currently at Inter Milan where he has scored seven goals in 15 starts this season.
Both L'Equipe and La Gazzetto Dello Sport are reporting that Perisic is available as Inter try to put together funds to capture a top striker. West Ham may have an advantage as Perisic, now 27 years old, received his international debut under Slaven Bilic and is a graduate of the famed Hadjuk Split academy where Bilic also learned his trade.
Mainly left sided, Perisic would be an ideal replacement for Payet if and when the troubled star leaves the London Stadium. However, West Ham will need top fend off competition from Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool - all of whom are reportedly interested in the Croatian star.
Perisic sounds like just the pick me up Hammers fans need after the disappointment of the Payet betrayal and it would send out a strong signal that the club is starting to push forwards again after a difficult first few months at their new stadium.
Meanwhile, in our PAYExiT Poll most Hammers fans reckon that we should hold out for £35 million for Payet - why not cast your vote (see top right).
COYI!!!
