As the Dimitri Payet strike rumbles on it has emerged that he is also refusing to play with his current squad mates in the West Ham U23 side who played out a draw with Aston Villa last night. As a result, West Ham chiefs have been left with no option but to further demote him - to a local pub team squad!
The French Tallyman has rightly backed himself into a corner with a series of petulant antics but as they say, every cloud has a slivery lining and Essex pub league giants The Traitors' Gate Public House XI in Little Thurrock will be the lucky beneficiaries from the addition of Payet to the squad.
While Payet may not be known for promoting a sense of team spirit or loyalty to the common cause, he will undoubtedly be an asset from set pieces. Lofty John, the Traitors' main striker is said to be relishing teaming up with the French maestro as he reckons Payet can provide just the sort of deliveries that the traditional English centre forward has been crying out for.
Locals at the pub were disappointed to learn that it's unlikely that Dimitri will around to contribute to the Thursday night open-Mic session as he is expected to be moving abroad in the very near future.
