'Proper' Legend's Recovery Progressing Well

Amid all the comings and goings at Upton Park of late you could be easily forgiven for forgetting that former Hammer and striking legend Jimmy Greaves has been bravely battling the aftermath of a severe stroke in early May.

The good news is that Greavsie is making a good recovery and has moved from acute hospital care to rehab. Hammers fans will remember with fondness his season at the Boleyn in the early seventies when he played alongside a host of Hammers legends and despite being in semi-retirement, notched up 13 goals in 40 appearances.

Much loved by football people everywhere, Greavsie enjoyed huge success after his playing career on the Saint and Greavsie show - with many folk still bemused as to why the programme was ever discontinued!

For many, Greaves is considered the greatest predator of them all and is the highest ever scorer in top flight English football with 357 goals - Now that's a 'proper' legend! A selection of Greavsie goals can be seen by clicking the link below.

On behalf of the VWH team and all Hammers fans we wish Jimmy a full and speedy recovery.
