Are West ham facing the unthinkable?

King Mark and his merry men!

All the activity around West ham right now is certainly exciting. With the OS switch presenting the opportunity to become a truly major European club, its hard to grumble.

However, as the flow of new talent coming into the club continues, one wonders if the unthinkable might happen....is it possible that there might be no place for Mr West Ham Mark Noble?

Nobes is easily the most popular player on our staff and has been pretty much ever present for the past 5 years. However, there can be no doubting that last season was not his greatest ( he wasnt even in the running for Hammer of the year) and in comparison to the 2013-4 season his squawka stats were very modest.

New manager Slaven Bilic is a big fan of the 4-2-3-1 formation. Nobes is hard working and industrious but lacks the pace to play anywhere other than in the two deep midfielders in that formation.

As such, it looks like he will be in firect competition with Kouyate, Obiang and Song, not to mention young Diego Poyet.

Are we facing the unthinkable? If so, and Nobes plays an intermittent role in the side, then who will replace Kevin Nolan (there is no place for Kev nowadays in a 4-2-3-1) as club captain?

And who will be our first choice penalty taker?

And who will be out there to remind us that "the West Ham Way" includes creating our own talent...

We live in interesting times!

Our money is on Nobes to rise to the occasion.

  1. Tomkins in trouble for a starting place as well

  2. Hard to see Noble getting picked ahead of Song and Kooyate. We will have to see how good the Spanish kid is. Bilic will be more ruthless than BFS. All bad news for Noble.

  3. I'd say Ginge is under greater threat than Tomkins as Bilic likes to push high up the field and his lack of pace will be a problem

  4. Noble has always been a championship player

  5. We've got more to worry about than noble getting into a top heavy midfield like whos gonna get our goals for us forget more defenders and more midfielders and look at our frontline sakho aside we have an ordinary valencia carroll ( never fit) maiga (joke) zarate ( not good enough) so i ask you where are we gonna get the goals from?

    1. samuelsen and cresswell down the left hand side, jenks and payet down the right, sakho and valencia lurking for smart runs and carroll in the box, sounds like trouble to me:) with kouyate as an anchor on the midfield, i'm thinking 4-3-3 could be a nice formation for this squad eventually...

but i agree, i'd be alot more comfortable if they brought in a couple of strikers. i'd love to see charlie austin or maybe yussuf poulsen in the west ham jersey next season

  6. Trouble is people see Noble through their Claret & Blue tinted glasses!!!..the guy is pretty average!!..If he were playing for another team i'm sure 99 % of supporters would not be happy with that signing!!

  7. Tomkins and Nobes will bench warm but with 2 cups, Europa and the league Slav WILL be rotating let alone the injuries we ALWAYS get. So plenty of football to share about. The captain question is a thinker though, Sakho and Valencia are a great strike force and I believe our young guns are capable backup. Apparently we have a bloke on our books called Carroll too.....oh I'd like an Aaron Lennon or similar for the wings too as a bonus

  8. Reid for Captain - its probably even a clause in his 5 year contract

  9. Ginge, Tomkins & Noble are going to struggle to get much game time. Why the club gave Noble such a long contract is a mystery to me. Ginge gives 100% every game but he isn't good enough for a team who are hopefully challenging for europe. Mid to lower PL teams are his limit imho. Both Tomkins & Noble squad players used for cups.

  11. No way. At his best, Noble is our most important player. Song is moody and Obiang untried.

  12. Reid has only had one stand out season ,the first year of our promotion.Very over rated and I believe Bilic has already got wise to that hence the Juve lad signing.HReid is a decent athlete but the distribution from his pigeon toes is often abysmal. I'd give Tomkins the captains armband as he is the likeliest true Hammer to get a game !
