Liverpool Splash out on Winstone Read

After all the speculation regarding the future of West ham's Kiwi defensive sensation Winston 'Wonderful' Reid, Liverpool have made a clear signal of their intent by acquiring a Winstone Read of their own.

Recognising that the chances of the Kiwi leaving a buoyant side destined for Champions League action next year for a tired outfit that are struggling in mid table obscurity are worse than zero, Rodgers has opted to think outside the box!

The players library at Anfield has therefore undergone a significant overhaul with Brendan Rodgers keen to provide some offensive inspiration by stocking the shelves with literature that might help his misfiring Suarez-deficient attack to become better hitmen. Speaking after Liverpool whimpered out of the Champions league tonight after a fawlty performance caused them to be brushed aside by Basil, a source close to Rodgers revealed that he is 'more than confident' that Ray Winstone's hard-hitting biography will prove a hit with Mario Balotelli and Ricky Lambert.

Meanwhile, Winston Reid is preparing himself for the big move to the Olympic Stadium where the Hammers' hitmen of Sakho, Valencia and Carroll are expected to set the Champions League alight next year.

In other news, Liverpool have also been linked with a swoop for Diafra Sakho but West Ham have revealed that the only striker currently on their books who would consider a move North is the currently AWOL Modibo Maiga.
