Has Beens could yet foil Hammers Euro plans

As Manchester United and Liverpool played out a soul-less draw in the Europa League last night, the new kings of English football were focusing upon their preparations for next weekend's crunch Premiership fixtures.

Among them, West Ham travel to Chelsea seeking point(s) that can maintain their push for the fourth Champions League spot. However, it has emerged that fourth spot may not necessarily bring qualification as UEFA rules allow only five clubs per nation and with Liverpool and Man City still in contention for the Europa League and Champion's league respectively, if they both win then the fourth placed club would be pushed out to the Europa League.

However, while Liverpool have a reasonably decent chance (quoted at 6/1 to win), Man City are quoted at 18/1 against a Champions League triumph and anybody who watched their shambolic performance against Dynamo Kiev in midweek would consider those odds a bit mean! More significantly, the loss of Vincent Kompany puts Man city's challenge for a top four Premiership finish in serious doubt such that Pep Guardiola may be excluded from Europe's biggest competition next year!!!
