Farewell Dan Potts

In disappointing news this week a host of younger players at Upton Park have been let go in the annual review of contracts. The most high profile of the bunch, which includes Kieran Bywater, Sean Maguire, Paul McCallum, Jerry Amoo, Kieran Bailey and Taylor Tombides, is Dan Potts - a player that many tipped to follow in the footsteps of his dad - Hammers hero Steve Potts who was Hammer of the year in 1995.

Sadly, despite 13 appearances for the first team , things haven't kicked on for Dan and it is time to look for new opportunities elsewhere. Swift of feet and with a good footballing head, young Dan performed excellently during all of his opportunities in the first team but perhaps his relative lack of physicality has impeded his perceived ability to compete at the highest level. The rise and rise of Aaron Cresswell coupled with the arrival of Stephen Hendrie as back up for the left back berth has signalled the end for young Dan.

We wish him the very best and just maybe he might make a triumphant return at some stage!
