A Message for Alex Song and Winston Reid: moving to Liverpool FC can damage your career

Liverpool can be a real drag.....

With the growing speculation that Liverpool are preparing to swoop for two key members of the current Hammers squad - ace defender Winston Reid and on-loan Barcelona midfielder Alex Song - we at VERYWESTHAM have taken some time out to examine what happens to players who make the trip to Anfield and the effect it has on their careers...

Actually, we just had to think up a list of players who have signed for Liverpool in the post Dalglish era! .....arriving on the crest of a wave....only to find themselves labelled as flops by the unforgiving and demanding scouse footie public. Who knows what it is - the expectation, the water, the incredibly vibrant nitelife (?!?) or just the whingy scouse accents? Either way, moving to Anfield has been a real career-killer for so many decent players!

Ridiculous - and they make you wear sh*t kits
Try: Robbie Keane, Jari Litmanen, Harry Kewell, Alberto Aquilani, Albert Riera, Bruno Cheyrou, Fernando Morientes, Stan Collymore, Andy Carroll, Andrea Dossena, Jermain Pennant, Djibrill Cisse, etc etc etc the list is simply endless.

and then there's the Hammers who have regretted going to Liverpool...Cole, Konchesky even that ultimate Hammers legend Julian Dicks found he was unappreciated and underperforming at the reds...Hmmmm.

Why not just ask current teammate Stewart Downing - written off by Liverpool and now he's one of the best midfielders in the Premier league!

Stay where you are lads.....you can be the spine of the team that occupies the Olympic stadium!

  1. And moving to West Ham...see Andy Carroll, Joe Cole....and yes, wait a few weeks and Stewart Downing will be back on that list like he was a month ago-regardless of him finding himself in unfamiliar territory amongst players that actually affect play on the pitch.

    2. 3-1 and you won't sign Reid or Song as you tumble out of the european spots this season. Pathetic club who are living in the past and always the victim, hated by every fan of every other club in the country

    3. Liverpool minus Suarez are like Spurs without Bale, very average... Good luck with the desperate signing of Balottelli, I'd rather have Downing any day . Rodgers keeps harping on about how great Liverpool were last season, he's only been there a while and he's living in the past like the rest of you..

  4. This is an embarrassment to proper fans. Please don't paint all us Hammers with the same brush. You could have made a valid argument about how positively our season has started. Or how exciting our future stadium move is. This isn't worth the click.

    1. What's this 'proper' fans about you grandiose clown. And where's the paint? It's a statement of fact that joining Liverpool FC has been a career disaster for a surprisingly large number of decent players. West ham are on the up and there is every reason to remain at a club that now has a decent squad and clearly about to move up the rankings with a new stadium etc etc. Maybe try reading the article next time before you launch into a poorly considered criticism - now that's embarrassing!

    2. Proper Hammers fans enjoy their football and like to have a laugh - they don't take it too seriously unlike some of those tedious Man U and Liverfool fans you meet who get all tied up about nothing.
