What started as a positive season for the Hammers has suddenly turned sour, and after yesterday's capitulation at Brentford has the media wolves back on David Moyes' trail.
Having come back from the concession of an early goal, strikes from Kudus and Bowen had the Hammers firmly on the front foot at half time against Brentford.
It looked like West ham were finally going to get a result against the Bees when Bowen flashed a perfect low cross across the box to where both Antonio and Benrahma were unmarked and looked certain to make it 3-1, but bizarrely contrived to grt in eachother's way.
Alas, two moments of poor defending later in the half and it was the 5th straight league defeat to Brentford. In fairness, the absences of Zouma, Alvarez and Paqueta were big factors but it was a game that the Hammers should have won.
Elsewhere, the impressive thumping of Arsenal in the midweek League cup tie was pleasing, but the Gods of Footy rewarded Moyes' men with a daunting quarter final trip to Anfield.
So, top six and League cup glory look pretty unlikely at this point. Thursday's clash with Olympiacos suddenly looks like a season-defining moment! It's time for the lads to roll up the sleeves and thoroughly avenge the cheeky Greeks!
If we play like we did in Athens we could be out of contention on all fronts before Christmas. It's hard to see Moyes surviving that scenario.
If we play team we had v Arsenal and drop Antonio we will win both matches Play him and we will loose both Simple
ReplyDeleteUs Hammers fans are very fickle. We have never been able to compete with 'the big clubs' but we are beginning to build a good squad. Sure Antonio is out of form, but we don't have another forward. I would give Mabuna a run for 2-3 games. Pick the same team for a few games running, most of the season has gone for us, time to experiment a bit, perhaps?
DeleteWanker Antonio
ReplyDeletea couple of years ago us ficklies were singing his praises! Form is temporary, class is permanent
DeleteIf you think Moyes is class then you're deluded. I was wanting him to leave as I stood outside Stratford Town Hall because I knew where we were at
Deletev Arsenal no Antonio. v nearly everyone else recently Antonio. Not rocket science
ReplyDeleteAny fan can see what Moyes can’t. Antonio is a spent force. We are a better team without him.
ReplyDeleteOnly one problem at west ham the manager
DeleteMoyes way out of his depth, a poor manager with a big budget, tactically bancrupt
ReplyDeleteexcept for the euro cup last season!
DeleteSo much rubbish spoated 😂
ReplyDeleteIngs and some of back up players haven’t being adding much. Not moyes or Antonio. It is what it is
ReplyDeleteMoyes at it again trying to convert bowen into a c forward that's all very well but that leaves Owens natural position void and so it goes on and on Pathetic now
