At long last the mystery of what the Guy Demel goal celebration would entail was solved today as he scored a crucial strike just before hald time in a tense affair at Anfield. The swashbuckling right back has threatened to finally get off the mark in recent matches as he has gotten into some excellent positions and even cracked one header off the bar. And then today the reward for all his efforts finally came with his breakthrough strike.
Hammers fans may be a little disappointed that the flamboyant French Ivorian seemed strangley subdued after the goal but perhaps that have been because it was scored at his own end.
In an otherwise unremarkable game, there were one or two additional scores before the referee finally brought proceedings to an end after 3 extra minutes and West Ham extended their impressively lengthy nonvictorious record at Anfield to 51 years.
