It's been a successful four and a half years for West ham since David Moyes returned to the helm. The club have ditched their yo-yo status and transformed into a regular European contender. Three consecutive European campaigns with victory in the Europa conference last season emphasises the depth of the transformation David Moyes has overseen.
But, thete is a sense that the journey has finally fizzled out. The high jinks of the Leverkusen home leg could not conceal what has been a mediocre Premiership season. The Moyes' system works but inevtably fans want to watch football where the Hammers hold onto possession and take a few more risks. The prospect of the lies of Bowen, Kudus and Paqueta cutting loose on opponents is too exciting to put off any longer and in Lopetegui the board trust!
We've been here before with the Pellegrini era but hopefully this time we can play more effective attacking football. Either way, there can be no denying the calibre of David Moyes and let's hope the players put in a quality performance today to acknowledge his contribution over recent years.
Farewell David, good fortune in your next adventure. It's been a blast!
